Why PFAS-free?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) is a collective name for about 10,000 chemical substances and have useful properties; They are, among other things, water, grease and dirt repellent. As a result, they are used in all kinds of products. Think of (rain) clothing, mobile phones, cosmetics, non-stick pans and fire-fighting foam. When used, fire-fighting foam ends up (in)directly in the ground and ultimately in our food and drinking water. PFAS is not degradable by nature and PFAS-containing firefighting foam contains proven harmful substances. That is why European legislation has been drawn up as a matter of priority for an accelerated ban on the supply of PFAS-containing fire-fighting foam. This does indicate that the need to phase out PFAS-containing fire-fighting foam is definitely on the agenda.
Saval has been producing PFAS-free firefighting foam since 2019 and embraces the logical step towards a better environment.
